You can get some pretty neat battles from the "allied ships joined our forces" thing. A squadron of British Dreadnought-pattern dreadnoughts and a squadron of American battlecruisers versus the entire French home fleet. Edit: the hordes of predreadnoughts made this a much tougher fight than I anticipated! We extracted all capital ships without loss, sinking a dreadnought and predreadnought in exchange for absolutely nothing of value! Attachments:

Did you spawn between them or sail into that mess?

Did you spawn between them or sail into that mess? I let them get between me and the open ocean and had to bust out, I got greedy and dove on a lone BB group. Took some really bad hits to the engines and couldn't get all my ships back out. Usually I'm fast enough to escape but I got bad rolls with machinery and salt water. I took enough screenshots for an AAR but it's 4MB and 32 imagines. Attachments:

They can get absolutely chewed apart sometimes...

Didn't actually effect the outcome because the ship was already sinking - but I just had a 6" HE round destroy a battlecruiser by flash fire! Attachments:

It was intended to have a zero freeboard, ahhhhh...so that the belt would be difficult to hit....

It was intended to have a zero freeboard, ahhhhh...so that the belt would be difficult to hit.... Such design should have an enormous debuffs. One or two dive bomb hits and the whole thing goes down (or maybe just a more serious storm). By the way, does that debuff get worse with increasing displacement deficit? It was a joke - in the game it is not possible. And yes, a ship gets worse penalties the more overloaded it is.

Here you see the course plot of a very odd convoy battle off Morocco. The first encounter around nightfall was between cruisers, then I lost track of anything. Only one destroyer was separated from its division... and somehow strayed right into the convoy while my other units were already some hundred miles away (the furthest point to the west is around 200 nm away from the "current" position). Glorious Z-124 sank three merchants and held out until my cruisers came within reach again and helped to sink some others. This lasted until the scenario absolute time limit was reached...
By the way, Z-124's sister ship Z-125 also got lost and has steamed as far as Portugal right now.

I have never seen this happen. I don't know whether to be impressed or upset. They actually hit! Edit: and the results screen, because why not. I might have been a tiny bit cavalier with my DDs, but it was definitely worth it. I feel like Russia had a very top-heavy, battlecruiser centered fleet that didn't fare well against my "all of the light forces" composition. Shout out to my predreadnoughts for providing a surprisingly effective if slow backstop. Attachments:
