When you get enemy more powerfull battlecruiser but with all forward armament on search radar 2/0. I think that Italian crew was in quite similar situation in Matapan.

A war between myself (as GB) and France/Russia is not going terribly well, given the politicians' love of signing naval limitations treaties just after the AI finishes some new BB/BCs - and just before I finish my own. Nevertheless, we fight, and have to be prepared to run when our obsolescent vessels get matched up against the enemy's latest and greatest. Case in point, the legacy Diadem-class. Sutlej, here, was part of a cruiser squadron attempting to fend off a French squadron, when she caught a torpedo. While the crew was able to stop most of the flooding, it was only "most", so as night fell (ending the engagement) the squadron commander ordered the fleet back to Portsmouth, and then he went off to do paperwork. Unfortunately, the course he ordered didn't quite end up AT Portsmouth... ...and by the time the commander returned to the navigation room, the squadron had somehow made its way to the village of Halland, where the rising gale caused the unfortunate Sutlej to finish sinking. How, exactly, the fleet made its way up onto land is unclear - the town of Peacehaven (where the map suggests it went ashore) lies atop the local chalk cliffs, and the river Ouse at nearby Newhaven flows roughly NNW-SSE, as compared to the fleet's ENE heading. Still, one must admire the dedication of the Sutlej's crew - even as the ship filled with rainwater, they continued to portage further inland.

Had my first true fail in the game.
Started a 1900 game as Germany. Setup the Cruiser Light Raider ~12-20 of them at game start as a way to force other nations to treaty. Had ~6 BB 2 CA and minimal destroyer count.
Still in the year 1900, the game start, a war breaks out with the British vs my Germany. All right thought I. I can raid them to submission.
1901 war still going on, blockade on me gets to a few points
1902 war still going on, I invent submarines and start building, blockade on me points getting up there
1903 submarines not yet launched...
Our economy collapses
the Kaiser is deposed
Communism takes over Germany in 1903. 1903!
I resign. Walking out of the Admiralty office with an axe, backpack and bush craft supplies for the Teutoburg forest never to be seen again.

Forgot to screenshot this.
Playing as Austria-Hungaria, just entered my 3rd war in short succession against France (1914ish).
The two previous wars pretty much annihilated their surface fleet, resulting in the Large Coastal raid they just attempted consisted of...my heavy warships (BBs, solitary BC, Bs etc.) against a solitary destroyer.
The AI launches a daring but ill-fated kamikaze attack, resulting in their destroyer getting sunk for no damage.
Nope, that's not the punchline.
One of my B's getting torpedoed by a sub in the post battle sequence for 6k damage points (and thereby giving France the win!) however...

I had a similar experience when an enemy TR was sunk without me remembering seeing the TR in question. When I checked: Attachments:

When you're playing as Spain and your war VS Germany slowly turns into a world war.

I'm almost tempted to replay this battle, just to see if the armed merchant at the head of the convoy can defeat this "raider" all by itself.

That is what you call taking no chances with your convoy.

I'm almost tempted to replay this battle[...] You can do that? Save the game at the start of the battle - copy the save if jt turns out to be a good one.

I'm almost tempted to replay this battle[...] You can do that? You can reload your start-of-battle autosave as long as you haven't exited the battle.
