So, I have recently finished my first playthrough of the game, and have been thinking for quite some time about what a shame it is that we can't have multiplayer PvP campaigns. However, an idea then struck me for a possible cooperative playthrough.
It is as follows:
For optimal fun, I would imagine a group of 3-5 people is best.
One person is the Admiral. He is the main player of the game, and commands the fleet in battle. As necessitated by game design, this admiral is also very keenly invested in the fleet air arm. However, though he may command the ships in battle, he is no engineer, and this is where the rest of the people come in.
The remaining players are the designers. When the Admiral needs new ships, he requests proposals from the designers, who then make said proposals and send them to him. The Admiral then chooses one proposal that he likes, and builds it.
I would imagine this working via the sharing of save files in order to ensure all designers remain aware of technological developments. Essentially, when he needs new ships, the Admiral saves his game and sends the resulting file to the Designers, who then place it in their Saves folder and access it. This should ensure that they are all technologically up to date when they are making their designs. Once the design is done, they send the file back to the Admiral, or alternatively take screenshots for review.
The Admiral in turn then uses these ship designs, and either streams the gameplay for the benefit of his compatriots, or posts frequent screenshots with appropriate running commentary.
For optimal fun, I suggest that this process take place over good conversation, preferably with tea and choice pastries on the side.
What do you all think of this proposal for a cooperative RTW 2 playthrough?
