Thanks for the suggestions and comments. I will not go into more detail about battle generation for now, as that might still be subject to change as testing goes along.

Ummm maybe here is a problem to balance battles accord with player´s designs.
For example maybe i decide dont build BCs because i create a CA class very similar... fast (26-27), well armed for a CA (2x3 11 turrets) and enough armor to troll old CAs and inferior ships... they are not true BCs because have less firepower and armor but in the end i dont design them to engage BBs or BCs, i design them to be gunships to protect BBs from enemy CA, CL and DD (or as heavy raiders), to engage BBs or BCs i have BBs only.
I think to prevent this, somekind of players power over what units use in battles in wartime is necesary, if you invest in intelligence before a battle where you react to enemy actions you can see a stimation of enemy forces and select what units use, if you are the attacker... well, you can select what send to battle... even is possible you can have in prebattle the option to move ships to 3 boxes to create battle OOB... "battleline" (ships that start battle),"support" (ships that leave harbour and are near to enter in battle if you call them) and "reserve" (ships in harbour ready to leave it) to recieve reinforcements if things go bad (in battle call for support that arrive in x hours and activate reserve that arrive later).

Actually, if you create a CA with 3 11'' turrets and high speed, I am not sure that the program would classify them as CAs. Since the class is picked automatically, they could classify as Bs or Even BCs.

So the player can't pick the designation of their designs?

So the player can't pick the designation of their designs? I think that would be open to abuse with players making 30,000 ton "destroyers".

Thanks for the reply.
Well, i understand that classes are going to have some limits... maybe displacement/guns is the frontier??? but some BCs have more displacement than BBs and same guns or even betterguns... this is an interesting point because now with players doing designs we can see ships that have hard placement in WWI classes.
Lets see.

There should, perhaps, be a displacement ceiling on any given designation, with research being able to raise the ceiling. But to have designations placed by the computer would be a mistake imo. Especially seeing as toward the later years of the game, the line between battlecruisers and battleships became very blurred.

To Fredrik:
This is a great addition to NWS repertoire of games.
Question: Many of the games like Total War series have a "resolve battle automatically" button which is nice to have to facilitate the playing of the game. Would that be something that could be added later or maybe installed in the first version. The idea is when the situation in the game develops a war, in that war we can resolve battles quickly to make it run faster instead of actually fighting the battle. Just a thought.

This is a good feature to avoid minor battles... you can select the orders for the battle like "avoid combat/middle engage/full engage", "engage enemy short/med/long range", "use torpedos", "center in capital ships first/center in light forces first" etc etc.
In future if they want add some role component to game they can add commanders for ship divisions and fleets with some values to cover his value in tactical combats, strategic movements (to surprise enemy forces, cut enemy retreat...) and more... with this maybe is posible leave the battle in AI hands and you can play the pure role of the head in naval affairs.

Those are some possibilities but we need to let the team mull the request over and investigate how it could be introduced into the game, depending at what point in the development process they are in. It was just a suggestion.

Well, the point for me is do a solid release and if is posible improve game step by step... in the end maybe if someday NWS release a WWII title based in SAI/RTW the point is have the better game possible.
A little question about art... with fictional ships we are not going to see ships portraits... you plan improve a little hte 2D up view of ships showing something more detailed??? maybe not in 1.0 but in future thinking in other releases (WWII or age of sail era).
Thanks.

... and you never know when you need to send a cruiser squadron to the colonies to avert a crisis(or provoke it, if that is in your interest). I'm very excited about this feature. How does it work exactly? Is it possible e.g. to use such a squadron in raider missions when war has been declared or to use landing parties?

There will be raiders, but no landing parties.
