Which one do I alter for a 1900 custom start? It's not as intuitive as the names lend themselves to be. Just want to be sure. I'm going for an 1898 start just before the Spanish-American War and need to know which file to edit to reduce nations Gun quality and Dock Size.

Figured out the BNat1900.dat is the one I edit for 1900 games, so the question is what does the BNat.dat for?

Figured out the BNat1900.dat is the one I edit for 1900 games, so the question is what does the BNat.dat for? I think just logical thinking could help here a lot. Last change of file: 2017-2019 - RTW2 file 2015-2016 - RTW1 file earlier - SAI file
So and that after looking of subject of the file you can estimate if file is needed in RTW2 or it is just here from old games.
So BNat.dat seems from RTW1 and very likely not used in RTW2.

Interesting, I'm surprised these files weren't removed when the new game was released in that case. It'd be great if a dev could confirm!

I'm playing around with gun quality/penetration and can say that changing gun quality in BNat2 and BNat1900 does change the gun quality available to the player at the start of the game, and does change the gun quality available to ships under construction. Ships already commissioned in the auto-generated legacy fleet aren't affected though. I've been changing them manually, but that's a mediocre work around.
