I have found the ship speed setting to be a bit clunky, by only going up and down in large 1 knot steps there is little fine tuning available and it can limit some options. By adjusting to the tenth of a knot it would be a much more tweakble system and more accurate to life where many ship classes only saw slight progression over the next.
This could open up speed tweaks in ship rebuilds as well if a small margin of adjustment was given to represent new propellers or anti-fouling (say +- 0.5knots) without the huge cost of a machinery upgrade. It wouldn't have a great impact in the combat of the game, just something more for those of us who take a bit too much time with the ship building!
