Moving Carrier Air Wings to land bases

I wanted to know if we can move carrier air wings to land bases for temporary use in combat operations. This was done in the War in the Pacific. Carrier Air Service Units and Patrol Air Service Units were developed and manned at each base after being occupied to provide maintenance to the aircraft. This eliminated having to transport the whole aircraft maintenance group off of the carrier. It was handy especially to allow carriers to stay away from possible attacks and allow them to refuel, rearm and repair any damage at repair bases.

You can drag air wings from a carrier to a base in the air groups menu to do this

But I think there is still some issue with loosing experience moving squadrons. I am certain it is issue moving them from reserve to carriers/naval stations but not completely sure if the issue is moving them between carriers or naval stations.
