Every once in a while I want to rework my design instead of going direct to build. But in some cases, and I think this depnds on the type of end-of turn messages, the design screen which opens after the rework dialogue option was chosen, indavertedly closes. Either directly (the design screen just opens and immediately closes in a flash) or when one does close the "end of turn" message summary to actually get at the design screen. Also, when two designs 2mature" in the same turn you get the same with at least one of the designs, if not both.
When you then try to reload the (mature/ready) design from the design screen (through "open file") it gets treated as a totally new design, not a "rework" design.
Best would be if "mature" resp. ready designs get saved as such and can be modified cheap/quick as with the rework option at any time (or at least within a given timeframe in turns).

Resurrected. The same problem worries me since I started at version 1.03. 2 out of 3 ship designs and practically all capital ship designs are affected. To include minor last minute changes in my designs costs valuable time and budget. Please get this fixed or tell us how to approach it ourselves permanently.
(As for the time being: I suggest "repairing" the bug manually: re-open the design, do your changes, start the new design validation process, save the game and exit, go to your savegame folder, open the rtwgame1.bsc file and search for 'design studies', the affected class name, change ds0 time left to 1 month and save.)

I think what's going on here is that:
1) Only one design window can be open at a time. If the design window is opened programmatically multiple times in the interturn before the player has a chance to interact with it, all but the last instance will be lost. 2) Whenever another window comes up (or if the player tabs out to another application with the design window open), the design window ends up behind the main window. This can cause the player to miss that the design window is open and open a new instance, in which case the old one is lost.

Still get this in 1.22: - have 2 ships in *Design Study* that finishes next month - end turn - when prompted, choose to edit design - get a second prompt; cannot edit first design without responding to second prompt - in second prompt, choose to edit design - now get edit window for one ship (can't remember if first or second) and chance to redesign the other is lost
Attempting to work around by editing the other saved ship file and save gives full cost design period, not a reduced cost for a modification.
