Poor Francesco, imagine the flak it will get after all this. I do have to say I did not expect things to ends well when Zenta turned to her sister's aid. But it seems that Cruisers are the hero far more often than battleships (though the true hero is as, as usual, AH damage control teams). I understand the work involved with logging each DD and I totally understand your decision to omit them from the detailed logs. After all, it is most important to proceed at a pace that you find most enjoyable. Though I do suggest a happy middle ground to be limiting the log to exceptional DDs, and only track their action rather than actually digging through logs for hit rates and such. But again, it definitely should feel more like fun than work . In anycase, looking forward to your next update as usual.

I do have to say I did not expect things to ends well when Zenta turned to her sister's aid. I did. After all, on the maps, there was no sign of any sunk ships except the convoy.
Incidentally, akosjaccik, might want to change that: bit of a spoiler when you show exactly what ships do or don't sink right at the start of a battle

In my navy when-ever my staff & I meet other officers at the annual Holiday party as soon as the newcomer identifies themselves as serving on a destroyer our eyes glaze over and they slowly fade from view. ^.^

That is pretty much what was starting to materialize in my head; perhaps I'll switch the "ship logs" section entirely out, and instead I'll devise some kind of "hall of fame".
Adseria: Oof, good catch! I'll probably still leave the merchant vessel sinkings in, but get rid of the warship wrecks and only keep them on the "overall losses-map".
By the way, I'd like to thank you all for your attention and comments during the year and wish you happy holiday season - I hope you stay safe and have a merry time with the family. As a gift from the I&I project, have a shamelessly low-effort Festive Donau! No snow on the image due to climate change and all.
Also, no cruisers were harmed during the making of this "postcard".

Dear Sir.
I must protest your orders of 3000 sq/yards of red velvet and 40 tons of yearling wool for this photography exercise. The navy should be focused on less frivolous enterprises, such as finding out why the Cheese Shop Sketch is not a registered World Heritage Site.
Yours, Brigadier Arthur C. Stone, Mrs., ret, dec.

Regarding the recent accident at STT, I have to regretfully inform the Committee that the number deathly casualties rose to three, although the rest of the workers are in stable condition at worst according to the chief medical officer, thankfully. As for the ship itself, the structural damage is not catastrophic, but substantial enough and the necessary repairs will most likely delay the launch by a couple of months. The first investigation showed severe problems with steel purity, notably sulfur-, and phosphorus contamination, which got coupled with a completely unacceptable level of quality control. Wartime measures and disruptions in steel supply can not serve as simple explanations for this, and the prospect of men dying outside of combat environment or due to serving on ships of dubious quality because of negligence is something to be avoided at any cost. Further reports will list the implemented changes in both manufacturing and most of all, supervising and surveying the process.

I think I found the problem: you launched the ship into a wood table instead of the ocean.

garrisonchisholm : I'll approve their usage of the "With the Navy's recommendation" slogan in their advertisements. If I get a cut. Adseria : That's one thing, but it does not bode well that the table won.

Well, can't say I was working on drinkable wood, but I did further the bulding of the Ersatz Erzherzog (-> Kaiser). Not necessarily the most urgent task regarding the game (very roughly ~25 months still until they are finished in-game), but part of the fun is being able to choose my own fun I presume. One more afternoon/evening should do it, and then she's ready for painting. Missing are the rangefinders, the cranes on both sides and the yards. And whatever else I managed to forget yet again. You can even vaguely see the armored areas on the side. As for the colors, I did not yet decide, but the hull will most likely get the same exact blue-ish gray-ish something the very recent Admiral-class cruisers got, but I'm starting to feel like shifting the anti-fouling red on the bottom to a dark oil-green.
AW, HELL, right, the guns on the turrets. I knew I forget something. And I even printed out the blueprint to refer back to for God's sake!

...so I installed the QF guns on the turrets - although they are strictly speaking purely for the looks, as in RtW they would count as quaternary armament and as such, in-game they do not exist. The other elements are also present, such as the cranes (one of them gave me much more trouble than I anticipated, however given the limitations of the technology, I am actually happy with them) and the rangefinders. There are some problems with the model (torp.net boom locations, issue with the armor and the waterline etc.), but as far as a printed 1:1000 model goes, it meets my expectations so far. I wonder if she'll meet my expectations in combat as well, but that's still a good while away from now, and the Navy has other, more pressing and most importantly, more recent concerns to deal with.

I can address the former: she's alive! Well, kind of.
