Ships sunk during battle are not sunk

I do not know if it is intended but in battle there are patrolling several corvettes with actual ship class. I lost several of them during battle but after battle I have the same corvettes as before battle (no ships sunk).

EDIT: They were 600 tons corvettes.

The game will generate some 100-ton corvettes that aren't fleet ships to fill out your coastal forces in battle. Or were these 200+ ton units that you built?
