Seeing the recent discussion "using decommissioned ship's gun for coastal battery"/"Pre-Dread used as seaplane base"/"let use preserve museum ships"
I feel it will be a nice addition to expand the decommission option of our warships. In addition to "Scrap" we may also have the option to "Decommission"(or whatever other term that is appropriate) a ship. If we Decommission instead of scrap, we will not get any $ but be given options to dispose of the ship. The options that come up can be semi-randomized and dependant on ship type and history, some proposed options.
To prevent spam, most of the option that pop up with the even window can probably have a cool down, and when no option are available the ship can just be scrapped for $. Some of the options are:
Convert Guns for Coastal Battery
- Should probably be available for any ship with 8-10in or higher guns, allow the player speed up the construction of a gun battery of the same caliber currently under construction. (This might be easier to code than adding a half complete battery at a location of player discretion, but I am no expert).
- May not need a cool down, if the player wants to turn his entire battleline into concrete bunkers, let him
Sell Ship to Minor Nation
- Long Cooldown/Randomized occurrence, pays much more than scrapping(but maybe not too much). Will also increase tension/lower prestige if sold ship is not obsolete.
Test Target
-Long Cooldown, maybe once per tech advance or a couple years. Gives a small bouns in tech, can be anything from damage ctrl to shells to torpedo.
Seaplane Base
- Add a small air base to the region that can only store seaplane squadrons (I understand that this might be a bit hard to implement)
Museum Ship
-Limited to ships with certain amount of battle stars(or can maybe be left to player discretion?) As with current Museum ship event, +prestige, but player pay mothball maintenance. It will be nice if there is a place where we can view all our museum ships. Having a museum ships could also have the added benefit of slightly improve chances for event like "civilians donate fund for battleships"
-Can also be given a cooldown to prevent spam
Barrack/Training Ship
-Player pay mothball Maintenance, either slightly increase the basing capacity of a region, or incases of training ship have some positive influence on crew quality.
-Barrack/Training ship can either be auto-scrapped or scrapped by player decision after certain years.
I understand that many of these feature may be difficult to implement, but I do think they are a nice addition to the fleet management aspect of the game in giving the player more options to dispose of their old ships.
