In Rule 5.5.3.2 the rules state categorically that the layer has no effect on sonobouys, but in both Table 5.5.3.1 Active Sonobouy Field Modifiers and Table 5.5.3.2 Passive Sonobouy Field Modifiers there are modifiers for Across Layer. (I assume these modifiers are in error)
Presumably an active sonar sonobouy field is detectable by an enemy under Rule 5.5.4 Acoustic Intercept just as any other active sonar source.
Presumably the Coordination Value of the monitoring aircraft is used to identify enemy units under Rule 5.7.3.
Must the aircraft that laid the field be the one that monitors it or can any aircraft monitor any friendly sonobouy field?

a) You are correct, the 'Cross Layer' modifiers for sonobuoys do not generally apply and should be ignored.
b) Active buoys are detectable just like any active sonar use, yes.
c) In the time frame of the game (i.e. 1970s & 1980s) the dropping platform was the only one who could monitor the buoys it dropped. It would also be the unit doing the classification of any targets detected, so the dropping platforms CoordV would be used to try to ID any targets detected by its buoys.
