Rule 5.5.4 describes the process to detect active sonar. This appears quite straight forward with one table and no dice throws. However Table 5.5.4 gives the Detection Ranges and suggests underneath that the range is subjected to all active sonar modifiers except Anechoic Coatings. But all these modifiers are to a dice throw, but none is evident in the rule. How do we modify the detection ranges or should the note at the bottom be ignored and the values in the table are cast in stone?

You may ignore the note, the adjusted Acoustic Intercept (AI) range from the table is the final range at which you can detect the active sonar use. I will note that while this is slightly simplified from what goes on with the physics/hydrodynamics of an actual AI process, it is close enough for our needs.
