Thanks mate. just spend the last hour redoing almost all of the new blueprints that I've made so far.

Any eta on CA or CL designs? Edit: Anyone doing missile designs so the AI uses them? Once I roll around to that era in game I'll make a few. Would like to add a few more designs to my own install, and am working on it, s'ppose I may as well share it when it's filled out a bit.

I'm about halfway done making the mod so i would say it will be done in around 2-3 weeks, and then there would be the testing so id give around a month for the proper public release. It should be noted that i have now included some early battleship and AV, CVL and CV designs in this mod. Also if your part of the rule the waves discord you can take part in testing when it is finished.

Is it possible to assign ship designs to modded nations? I've been tinkering with Empire of the Rising Sun to make ROC and Netherlands fully playable in the new Pacific-oriented campaign (rather than only being available as opponents), and I'd like to give Germany's unique designs to the Netherlands and Italy's unique designs to ROC.

I think so, as there's no reason it wouldn't work.

Okay, but how would you do it?

I don't know. I've only done some basic modding; I only meant that there didn't seem to be any barriers to doing it.

Well, while playing the EotRS playthrough, I noticed an issue where the AI likes to take the BC5XO and BC5X1 designs past the 48K ton threshold, which increases the size of the base hull and consequently causes the superstructure to look weird: I also found that the Dutch did make use of the German battleship designs: But I don't know whether that's just because they replace Germany in the mod, or if it's because I had experimentally duplicated the files replacing the "Gs" (for Germany) with "Ns" (for Netherlands) before starting play. I figured it probably wasn't that simple, but I couldn't see anything else in the files that the game could have been using to associate them with a particular nation. If it really is that simple then any designs you tried to give to China would be duplicated for Russia and vice-versa, since they are called "Russia" and "ROC" in the files, though I didn't see the ROC build any of the Russian designs in this campaign. The Russians didn't either, but that's probably because the last dreadnought they built was in 1930. After I kicked their asses in the late 30s and sunk their entire fleet, they barely built any new BBs or BCs and instead just spammed three-dozen CAs, only completing some new BCs (of the aforepictured design) in 1954 and 55. EDIT: I did some messing around with the files and it turns out? Yes, it really is that simple. If you set ROC's dock size to 16000 and 11 and 12-inch guns to -1 and delete the files for the generic tier 0 battleship designs (B0X0-B0X4), then start an ROC game and try to auto-design a battleship, it will sometimes fail to auto-design, and sometimes give you the B0R0 or B0R1 design. If you then delete those two files as well, you will be unable to auto-design a legacy battleship as ROC at all. Deleting B0X0-B0X4 also renders the British, Japanese, Dutch, and Italian AIs unable to spawn with a legacy battleship design in play, as these nations lack nation-specific tier-0 battleship designs of their own.

When I start the game in 1900, I get no sense that a "WNT" is in place. I've been able to design and build ships as large as 70,000 tons with 20" guns as early as the late 1930's. Are you talking about the ships the AI builds of other nations?

When I start the game in 1900, I get no sense that a "WNT" is in place. I've been able to design and build ships as large as 70,000 tons with 20" guns as early as the late 1930's. Are you talking about the ships the AI builds of other nations? Yeah. If you look at an AI nation that has a lot of capital ships in the late game, you should see that the AI builds few BBs and BCs in excess of 42,000 tons, and almost none in excess of 50,000 tons, even though the AI eventually builds up its dock size to 90,000 tons just like the player does. This is because the AI designs its ships by modifying a series of pre-designed "template" ships, and in the vanilla game there simply aren't any templates available with heavier displacement. It's also quite rare to see the AI build ships with 17-inch guns, and practically unheard of it for it to build ships with anything larger. This mod rectifies both of these issues. From what I've played so far, in the late game the AI will, with this mod installed, tend to build healthy balance of both the kinds of ~40K 16-incher designs you're used to seeing from it and the heavier, more powerful ones this mod offers, sometimes with 17, 18, or 20-inch guns (though not always. Iowa, Montana, Richelieu, and Nelson arrangements of 16-inch guns but with more speed and armour than the AI norm are also common).

I just finished playing a fleet battle Britain against the US in 1942. They brought two B5X9 class juggernauts to the fight, with 3x3 20" guns and 17" belt on an 89,000 ton hull. I had three juggernauts of my own with 3x4 17"Q1 guns and three more battleships with 16"Q1 guns. What a fight! finally a decent late-game challenge. The B5X9 was so well armored that even at 10,000 yards more than half of my hits failed to penetrate. And the 20" shells they were slinging in return not only punched my armor like butter, they hit like nothing I've ever seen before. I routinely saw critical damage from a single shell hit, like a CA having two adjacent turrets burned out or a BB taking damage on both BE and DE from just one shell. My air forces were helpless against them - 1,000lb bombs couldn't penetrate, and aerial torpedoes inflicted negligible damage. Finally I know what the AI nations felt like when I was stomping them with ships twice the size of theirs. Huge thanks to whoever made this mod, it really adds something to the late game.

Wow. Treaty ships really don't play nice with the mod designs. ^^;
