So I got a simple question that I could use a hand with. I took a look at the files data files and I see that each nation has a base amount of resources. My question is this, where do I have to set this base amount in order to get the historical results of the large fleet sizes that actually occurred on a per nation basis?

There is a fleet size value in the RTWGame#.bcs, line 5. 12 seems to be the best option for historical fleets.

As far as I understand, it is a multiplier in the base resource calculation. With higher fleet size values, all nations' base resources go up.

As far as I understand, it is a multiplier in the base resource calculation. With higher fleet size values, all nations' base resources go up. Base resources are the same regardless of what fleet size you choose; the fleet size modifier is simply a static multiplier on the budget. Basically [budget] = 0.1 * [fleet size modifier] * [budget modifier] * ([base resources] + [colonial resources]) [budget modifier] is variable over the course of the game depending on tensions and event choices; you can raise it if you want, but keeping the budget modifier high tends to raise unrest and the game will probably reduce it to something more appropriate to tension levels over time anyways.
As a word of caution, Fredrik W said somewhere that messing with the fleet size modifier might cause issues within the game. Also be aware that modifying the fleet size setting will not increase your legacy fleet construction budget as it can only be done after game start.
If you want to mess around with how many base resources you actually have, what you want to change are the BaseResources or HBR (historical base resources for that option on the 1900 start) lines of the BNat files in the Data directory - you can do this with a text editor like NotePad. Note that the values are in units of thousands of base resources, so 18 => 18,000 base resources within the game. Note that modifying the base resources setting will change your legacy fleet construction budget. If you elect to modify the BNat files, I strongly recommend creating backup copies of the original files in case you need them.

RTW2-> Save-> Game#-> RTWGame#.bcs # stands for the save slot number.

RTW2-> Save-> Game#-> RTWGame#.bcs # stands for the save slot number. Oh I see. So do I just start the game and immeadiately save to change it and have to do it every time I start a new game?

hmmm... so a further "Realistic" fleet size setting could be possible? or messing with the Base resource numbers might still cause issues?
Because this option is rather tempting, very tempting, even if a fleet battle at those levels would make my pc go cry in a quiet corner

Ok so I got a question about this since I'm coming back to this game after a long break from it. I see lots of options for historical fleet sizes. Do I still need to mod RTWGame#.bcs, line 5 to a value of 12 or is one of the preset fleet sizes better for historical fleet sizes?
