What file would I need to change if i wanted tro change the monetary value that accrues to a nation for colonies it has?
Also, how could I change the rule that makes some territories (such as Sicily or Baltic States) unable to be invaded?

MapData in the save, I think.
This is probably hardcoded, you'd have to edit the value to below 10.

If the value is above a set value (10 I think) then the territory is deemed uninvadeable. If the value is set to 200 it becomes a home area. If you want an area to no longer be a home area, change the value to below 200. You get the idea from here.

Monetary Value-can't change the ratio per colony point but you can up the colony points in the mapdata1900 and mapdata1920 .dat files in the data folder. for example "MapArea4Possession1Value=5" Where 5 is the number controlling colony points Lower the colony value below 10 and it becomes invadable

I would like to make invasions easier, while increasing the value of colonies.
Historically, colonies were often a lot more valuable than they are in the game. E.g. Japan's GDP in 1938 was $169bn and its colonies another $63bn. Britain in the same year was $284bn and its colonies and dominions $400. (All figures in 1990 USD, from Tooze, The Wages of Destruction p. 384).
One of the problems of the game is that while you can invade colonies, there is often not much point as they have little value.

But the most important number is your naval budget.
Colonies does not help that so much in game and history too. Economic value is strategy placement, population, natural resourcrs and mostly trade potentional. Resourse value is here for budget base I expect that to make it simply there is no coefficient how each colony helps the budget.

Indeed, the only colonies that have some value are Egypt and Panama, due to their canals. An argument could be made for access to oil up to 1920, but other than that, it is negligible.
I think each colony contributes a base of 25 to your budget, which is then modified as normal.

The richer a country, the bigger its naval budget is capable of being, particularly in wartime.
