I thought this would be fun. Check out how this ship's log ends and, say, what story do you think it tells? :]

The ship certainly made a good target but as my old buddy used to say: There are only two kinds of ships in the navy, submarines and targets.

Yes indeed! I was thinking though of the oddity that 54 minutes after the ship should have been abandoned it shot-down a TB with LAA; not something you see every day.

Hood's forward batteries fired their last rounds after the ship had blown in half and both halves were sinking so it isn't really that strange. I've forgotten which carries this happened to, but two carriers were abandoned, then the crew went back aboard to save it. Again, not so strange. I think on of the ships was the Lexington and other the Yorktown, I will have to research that.

Frankly speaking I cannot see it so strange as ship was hit by the second torpedo just one minute ago.

USS Franklin also had many of her crew (understandably) think the ship was about to explode and thus jumped overboard, only to come back shortly afterwards when there failed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom. That said, I think this example here was the Captain determining to Go Down with the Ship, and deciding to man one of the AA guns all the way to the bottom. More useful than tying oneself to the wheel, no?

I was incredibly lucky this didn't end worse. This occurred within 5 minutes of the engagement which started at 0200. This can also serve as a lesson in why 90,000 ton battleships are not a good idea.

5.5" deck is frighteningly thin for such an investment. The deck actually isn't that bad, it'll stand up to most things aside from heavy bombs. The turrets and secondaries are what concerns me, since those are both a chance to instantly lose your entire ship, especially the 7" secondaries.

I think that at game date it should not happened that after secondary guns hit ship would blow up.
