This led to navies adding ram bows to their ships for a good while into the 1800s, despite guns getting more powerful and accurate and ramming attacks rarely ever proving successful again. ...except accidentally, against friendly ships. Observe, for instance, the self-inflicted fate of poor Admiral Tryon.

yup, OTOH there is something to be said about ramming and subs, looking at RMS Olympic and a number of RN destroyers (not included glowworm cuz it was mostly an accidental ramming)
