January 1910
World Situation: A naval disarmament conference was held in the Hague which resulted in a treaty limiting ships to 20,000 tons and a maximum of 12" guns. This treaty has a proposed duration of 20 years. This resulted in the US Navy having to scrap all four units of the Independence-class under construction. Every nation was forced to scrap at least one capital ship under construction by the treaty terms. Germany, Japan, and Italy all appear to already be violating the treaty to one extent or another.

They increase speed to 26-knots and add even more armor relative to their predecessors while downgrading the main battery to 12" guns.
At acceptance, these ships turned out to be capable of exceeding designed speed by 1 knot.
