I was working on my laptop when Windows Firewall told me it had deleted a threat to my computer. At the time I didn't really think about it much. But later, when I wanted to play Rule the Waves 2, I got a notification that it could not open. I looked in the files for the game and all the files where there except for Rule the Waves 2.exe. When I saw that I decided to fully delete Rule the Waves 2 and then download it again and hoped that it would work. (I later found out I could have restored the file via Firewall, but by then it was already too late). When I wanted to download the game I stumbled onto a problem: I don't know where or how to re-download Rule the Waves 2. I looked through a few threads but couldn't find any info. Then I decided to create this thread in the hopes someone could help me.

I get messages from Windows defender and Trend every time I run the installer file. The Defender gives an option to run regardless, Trend will eventually ask if you trust the file. All my games are kept in a directory which is excluded from the virus checked. Some games need to load multiple files and the virus checker will seriously slow down dynamic file loading.
I guess you can download the demo version, run the patch - whether this need you to re-enter the licence is something I don't know...

It is a false 'generic' heuristic alert, most likely triggered by the code for the anti-piracy security in the executable. I send in samples to the major AV software companies with every update, but there are so many variations of each AV software (with different algorithms and virus databases even for the same product) that it gets tagged by a small number with each new update. You may need to add the RTW2 folder to your anti-virus whitelist (or have it exclude the folder).
So that you know, all files for the game are both locally checked with multiple AV engines, and the executable files are uploaded to Virustotal each time the game is updated & before it is posted.
If you have the original installer you can just re-install the game to the same folder and update it - if you do not have the installer nor the link to the download please contact Mr. Dean (NWS Store Owner/operator) at warshipfc@yahoo.com with your information and he can send you a download link.

Thank you very much for your quick reply's. I will try to look for the installer, and if that fails, I'll send an e-mail to Dean.
