With the expansion of the game into the missile era, it would be useful to have a technology allowing destroyers up to 3000 tons displacement, maybe in the late 30s? And maybe even higher displacements into the 50s. It could work the same way as the current CL displacement increases.

Also would be nice once missiles are available if the DD restriction on requiring torpedoes was relaxed, so that they needed either Torpedoes OR Missiles of some sort.

I’m playing in 1951 right now and seriously see the need for destroyers to go up to 3000 tons. 2500 tons just doesn’t work well when you’re using missile systems. (Edit - and I’m trying to create a Blue Water Navy, meaning every ship is Long Ranged and that’s just not possible with 2500 ton limits.)
