Hi! I am the author of the "Dearest Cousin" AAR. I am running the game in version 1.07 and I was thinking of updating to the current version. I am worried that it would break my save and make it impossible to continue the AAR. Should I update or continue with my current version?

I have never an issue with any save updating game to new version. I do it regurarly with any new version. You can copy version 1.07 to separate folder and if anything is going wrong you can still play 1.07 version.

I tracked the non-executable changes introduced by 1.09, 1.11, 1.14, 1.15, 1.17, and 1.20 via Git. Pass me a DM if you'd like to use some of that more granular info to upgrade safely.

Upgrading from 1.07 to 1.21 should make for interesting reading (and writing) in the AAR. The Russian Army didn't improve as much during WW2 as this game has since 1.07.

If I remember correctly there's at least one patch that at least recommended to begin a new game (don't remember which one exactly). So, I don't know if patching from 07 -> 21 will break the save, but I wouldn't assume it's going to work perfectly.
