It would be nice to be able to put several extra inches of thickness over the magazines of battleship, which many ships (KGVs for example) had, but the current "magazine box" trait reduces belt armor by half, so there's no way to get something like 6" over the machinery and 8" over the magazines of deck armor. Perhaps instead of a check box, it's a 0-10 or something dropdown or clickbox like caliber is, giving you the chosen thickness of armor over the magazines in addition to regular belt and deck armor.

YES please. Although two boxes (belt and deck separately) would be better. However I cannot image where they would find the space to put them.

I'm going to add this here because I don't want to clog up the forum with threads, but what about allowing all gun calibers from the start, but at -2 quality, and with a steep cost to develop calibers you haven't used before? This would give a reason to standardize your gun sizes (logistics not being simulated) and also simulate ships like the Italia with 17" guns, which was completely obsolete but still in service in 1900. Italia would be 17"-2 in game, with 4" protected cruiser armor.

I would like to see more flexibility in magazine box arrangements, but if they're going to do that, the devs might as well just give us separate thickness selections for B (magazines) and B (machinery), (and likewise for deck armor).
