My CV and CVL do not fire their main guns on surface targets
Just had a fleet battle in 1931 with lots of short range engagement. My CV and CVL did not fire any shot from their main guns (8inch and 6inch non-DP guns), even though I ordered one CVL to take one enemy DD ad target and my single CV was firing its 4inch secondaries at an enemy BB (the 8inch therefore were definitely in range). This might have something to do with the new notation of a flgiht deck ship's aircraft complement in the shiup target column in the division overview.

Interesting, I wonder if the game does not allow cross-flight deck firing? You shouldn't fire your guns across the deck. Did you place guns on port and starboard?

I can confirm that a Lexington style layout won’t fire, even on the side of the guns

My layouts are modified squares, i.e. 4 or 8 double turrets in symmetric port and starboard wing positions.

I've convinced a Lexington layout to open fire by setting the target both directly and for the squad, spreading salt circles around my keyboard and sacrificing a goat.
But then you remember the carrier should be running away anyways.

We will check the CVs (esp the Lexington type) for this, thanks.
