[1.22] patching from 1.21 incomplete "cannot open rtw2.$$A"

Error message while updating: "rule the waves 2 patch cannot open /...)rtw2.$$A" Patcher told me to rerun the patch in order to complete the updating process. Which I did multiple times to no avail.

I removed rtw2.exe temporarily from the game folder and patched again. This time the patcher completed its run, but no new exe was created. Using the old exe the game still gets shown as v1.21.

Somebody must have had the same issues. Please drop an comment!

It sounds possibly like a permission issue - try running the 1.22 update with 'Run as Admin" and see if that makes any difference.

Now, just in case, I downloaded & tested the 1.22 patch on my home PC & it worked fine, so it appears the file is itself is OK on the our servers. If the above does not help, I would suggest you re-download the 1.22 patch file and try again, as that error could also indicate some data corruption during download.

In fact I had have run the application under administrator mode. But anyway, following your second advice I downloaded the file again and this time it did work. I should have been sceptic right from the start, because my Bitdefender did not ring alarm when I tried to patch the game at first. Now, with the second download, it promptly intervened as always expected. After disabling the protection the installation continued this time.
