Part of me would like to see a Final Countdown scenario. That is actually easy to mod...

Part of me would like to see a Final Countdown scenario. For some reason I got this movie mixed up with Speed, and was imagining a scenario where you have to keep your ships speed up or else the spirit of Fisher detonates their magazines.

Part of me would like to see a Final Countdown scenario. That is actually easy to mod... How do you mod aircraft with a 30 year development lead over another nation? I can easily mod the carrier to be up to snuff, but I don't know how to start a nation scenario with advanced aircraft. That would be a cool scenario. One Nimitz class aircraft carrier vs the ENTIRE Japanese strike force on December 6th, 1941. Let's do it!

You copy the aircraft types from an old advanced savegame into your modded new game, giving them approbriate numbers (for a 1900 start begin with AT0). You will want an advanced F, TB, DB, PB, FS and MB, i.e. 6 types. For extra kicks you can give those aircraft even more speed and payload capacity...

Awesome! And what’s the largest bomb rtw2 recognizes? Can we drop 4,000 lbs Bombs? Honestly, I do not know. I never edited in larger bombs than 2000lbs, instead of going heavier going with more bombs on the plane. It takes some trial and error to find the savegame values for the in-game values you want, but that is relatively straightforward.

The Nimitz would have been carrying bombs of up to 2000lb , some delivered by Glide Bombs , some laser guided and the rest Iron bombs. Very few if any of those weapons are AP bombs as armoured decks are not something they had to worry about . Also some air launched Harpoon missiles and then some specialist anti-radar weapons which are of no use against the Japanese in 1941. Most importantly it would have been carrying a number of B43 bombs the initiation of any one of which would have destroyed Kidu Butai, and another 2 would have ended the war leaving quite a few spares

This might be a minor spoiler, but IIRC Fredrik did at some point include a neat little 'Easter Egg' in RTW2, but so far no one has reported encountering it that I know of :-)

I calculated game data for bombs of up to roughly Tall Boy size for RTW2 initially, at some point I would love to see that data made use of in the game...

Would a 2000lbs 1970 era glide Bombs equal a conventional 1945 era 4000lbs bomb if one existed? What’s the conversion rate here? Im not sure of the practicality of using bigger bombs, but a Tall Boy dropped on an enemy BB would like crack it like an egg. Any data on super heavy bombs being tested on armored ships?

Didn't see anything there either.
