Don't be overawed by the FW-200 Condor. While it claimed about 90,000 tons of shipping and 343,000 in total, it had heavy losses especially after the British put hurricanes on catapults. It also had structural issues. It really wasn't that effective. >Scourge of the Atlantic >Not that effective Considering the amount of effort that Admiralty put into preventing Condor attacks, it must have been quite effective. The effort put into "preventing Condor attacks" was mostly effort spent denying intelligence - a single bomber, no matter how effective it is or is not against shipping, isn't that big of a threat to an entire convoy by itself. The far greater danger posed to the convoy by that single bomber is the bomber's ability to report the composition, position, course, and speed of and maintain contact with the convoy so that other assets can more rapidly and more effectively be brought to bear against it.

Actually, it was only effective for about a year until the individual transports were equipped with machine guns and light AA guns. When this occurred and more escorts were available, the FW200's lost effectiveness quickly. The whole issue was a side show to the U-boats. The way the admiralty tried prevent the attacks was by equipping the transports with weapons. The FW 200 was vulnerable even to a .303 caliber Lewis gun. It's real effectiveness was in the sighting reports that could be used by the wolfpacks and the dropping of magnetic mines which were very effective over the long haul.

Has anyone been able to build heavy bombers in RtW2? If not = unicorn. We're talking about what could be done with them. Currently they don't appear in game. We've mentioned that openly at the beginning.
