December 1908 - cruisers For new cruiser designs I'm taking two that weren't actually built, from D K Brown's book The Grand Fleet. The first is a heavy cruiser with 8x9.2" guns, the second is an "Atlantic" cruiser with 4x7.5" and 8x6" proposed to counter cruisers Germany was said to be building as Atlantic raiders.

And here's the E2, I can't be arsed to deal with the idiotic attachment system on this board that refuses to behave sensibly:

November 1909Tensions are rising with France. They are our mostly likely enemy right now. I have told the government the navy needs more money to counter their threat as well as keep its other commitments.

The extra money we have got from the government allows us to build the Bristol class light cruisers.

April-May 1910
The government has asked us to put more ships in the Mediterranean to counter the threat from France, which we did. But then they cut our budget! Now they want to give concessions to the French, will will only make them demand more. I have put my foot down!

We are building a new Bristol-class cruiser, the Gloucester. If this upsets the budget, to hell with the budget!

October 1910
I thought my speech at the Navy League, entitled, "The growing threat from France" went down rather well. The French naval attache however looked like he'd swallowed a lemon.

May 1911 -- BC Lion
We also need battlecruisers, such as the Lion class which are similar to the Orions but remove a 2x13.5" turret and some armour for more speed.

June 1912
Finally the long awaited war with France has come. We have the stronger navy!
We will first attack their Mediterranean possessions, to force them to fight. Then we will crush their fleet in a decisive battle.

June 1912
Ambushed a French convoy off Corsica. We sank most of their merchant ships, but their CLs managed to escape because our BB was too slow. Future battleships must be faster! |or maybe we could build more BCs?

July 1912 -- Invasion of Corsica
We have invaded Corsica. The small French force that tried to stop us was destroyed. Our gunfire could be more accurate however.
Unfortunately most of their ships stay in port, so we can't sink them.

September 1912
We have invented fire control directors. We will have to fit them on all our big ships once this war is over.
