When did you start the game - 1900 or 1920?
1900
What nation were you playing?
US or Britain For example, right now I' playing US in a 1900 game. It is 1932 and I'm at war with Germany. Got a battle scenario and when it opened the map started spinning. After save/exit I started the game again, but was doing something in another window while the game started. When I went to RtW2 to play the scenario the map was again spinning. I then killed RtW2 with Task Manager, restarted RtW2, the battle scenario opened and was not spinning. Were there any start options that were not the default?
Self design starting fleet Describe the issue in detail.
The tactical map goes into a spin and won't stop unless I save/quit and restart. It doesn't do this often, but it has done so several times playing both US and Britain.
What were you doing when the bug occurred?
Starting a new battle scenario or coming back to one after taking a break.
What did you expect to happen and how was the result you saw different than you expected.
I expected the map to not spin, you can't play when it does. I would like to be able to stop it from spinning without exiting RtW2. Can you describe how to reproduce the bug?
It might have something to do with switching windows. What version of the game were you playing (v1.00, v1.01, etc)?
v1.22

Hello alant - from your observations/as best as you can determine, does this *only* happen when you are focused on a window outside the game and then return to the game?

alant: What do you mean when you say the map is spinning? Is it zoomed out to a full globe view with the Earth spinning on its normal north pole <-> south pole axis, or is it zoomed in with the map spinning around the center of the screen, so that north is up, then right, then down then left (or the opposite sequence for counterclockwise rotation)? Or is it something else?
If it's zoomed out and the earth is spinning on its axis, you might check for a sticking left or right arrow key, though it does seem that something more would have to be going on. I can get the globe to spin fairly rapidly by holding down an arrow key when zoomed out, but the map doesn't usually zoom out to globe view on its own, and at typical scenario-start zoom an arrow key would just cause the map to pan.
If the map is zoomed in and rotating around the center of the screen, then you would seem to have encountered a truly bizarre bug.

The globe is spinning, usually east to west, but sometimes north-south. The map is not zooming, that functions normally.
Can't say that it only happens when I go to another window and come back. I can go to other windows and come back, actually do this often, and it does not spin, so it is hard to recreate.
Pretty certain it is not a stuck button.

Found a way to get it to stop. Just start the Task Manager and it stops spinning.

Found a way to get it to stop. Just start the Task Manager and it stops spinning. That is just weird - but if it works it works...

Found a way to get it to stop. Just start the Task Manager and it stops spinning. Triple check that it isn't a stuck key: that really makes it sound like the game is getting some kind of input that starts going to task manager instead when task manager becomes the top window.

Do you have a joystick or map camera for other games, sometimes those will cause maps to continue to spin. Along with that, roller balls instead of a mouse can cause the same issue.

I don't have a joystick or camera of any kind.
If it is a stuck key it only happens very irregularly on RtW2 and nothing else, so I'm ruling that out.

Does it also stop if instead of bringing up task manager, you just switch to some other application window?
