So, one day I was in a war with Russia. I decided I wanted to take Kamchatka. Then, I had second thoughts. But when I edited the worldmap file to trade it for the Baltic States, I noticed that 1. the installations still belonged to Russia, and 2. My entire air force doubled, as well as every other air force, with twice as many models of aircraft. I eventually had to quit the otherwise successful game I was having, because when I deleted the excess aircraft and air groups I had, they came back the next day. Can someone tell me what causes this? Steps are as follows: 1. open a new campaign with aircraft (mid- 40s should be ideal) 2. edit the world map to give yourself a territory belonging to someone else 3. see results described above I believe any version, with mods or without, will work.

Also, can someone copy their original IDes because I lost mine?

Presumably you would have to edit the ownership of the installations too. It's recommended not changing ownership of a possession from [Nation] to [Nation] because of installations. It's far easier to change ownership from [neutral] to [Nation] or [Nation] to [Neutral]. Next time I would try to do it by setting the ownership to neutral first, run the game for one turn (to allow the installations to be deleted), and then editing the possession to give yourself ownership.
You may still be able to salvage your game. Try setting any possessions you messed with back to neutral and run the game one turn. If it works, you can set the ownership back to their respected owners. The installations in both will be gone though.

Save file editing is at your own risk; bugs resulting from it are unlikely to be addressed.
As to changing installation ownership, that requires additional file editing, this time of RTWGame#.bcs, as the installations - coastal batteries, motor torpedo boat squadrons, airship bases, and airbases - are defined as 'ships' in the [Nation#CoastalArtillery] blocks. Removing such installations would require deleting their entries in the appropriate power's [Nation#CoastalArtillery] block; transferring ownership requires creating a corresponding entry in the [Nation#CoastalArtillery] block for the power which you want to control the installations. For airbases, you should also find any affiliated squadrons in the [AirUnits] block and delete them.
Most likely, you will need to change the ShipCount, CACount, and AirUnitCount entries to reflect the new total number of ship/coastal artillery/air unit entries in the various [Nation#Ships], [Nation#CoastalArtillery] and [AirUnits] blocks and renumber the remaining entries in each block so as to ensure that there are no gaps in the list. I would guess that the air unit doubling you saw is somehow related to an erroneous modification here.

I already overwrote the game, but does someone have the original IDes so I can update the game?

I already overwrote the game, but does someone have the original IDes so I can update the game? You can reinstall the original game to the same folder (but DO NOT UNINSTALL the game first or you will lose your license key), and then update the game to the current (v1.22) version.

OK, but why not just replace the IDes?

OK, but why not just replace the IDes? Because generally having the computer do things for you is faster and easier than doing things manually, especially given that is probably faster to find your own copy of the installer than to get a copy of specific files from someone else. You would not believe how often in IT work the "work smarter, not harder" solution is to reinstall a program. As long as you have your data backed up and all the licensing stuff in order, going back to the out-of-the-box state via the installer is much, much less stress and time and effort (and usually delivers better results) than trying to figure out exactly what's wrong and fix it manually. Our real-world instincts tell us that it's an incredibly drastic solution, but that's not how computers work. It's the easy way.

I would rather not lose my 5 games that I have going right now... Make a back up of your RTW folder if you are worried about it before reinstalling.

I would rather not lose my 5 games that I have going right now... Just copy the contents of your save folder somewhere else, then reinstall. I don't think it's likely to nuke your save folder anyways, but better safe than sorry.

Did you save the original installer you downloaded when you purchased the game? (...it's a good idea to always save/backup something you purchase online in case you need it again/for later) if you do not have a copy of it, please email Mr. Dean (NWS Store Owner/Operator) at warshipfc@yahoo.com with your RTW2 order number and let him know you need a new download link for the game.
