I just downloaded 1.23, and in every battle so far, I've had this error at least once. Looks to me like some piece of code somewhere has an extra slash where it shouldn't or something.

The "\\" is actually fine, it does not cause an issue as it is a display thing only. I'll will post your issue for the Beta testers to look out for. Thanks.
Please check to make sure those two sound (.wav) files actually exist in the 'Sounds" sub-folder in your RTW2 game folder, that would rule out missing files as the issue.

Ok, I've been playing again today, I've played several battles and I haven't had the issue once. The computer's been off, so I don't know whether it was that or just the game that needed restarting, or if it was something else. I didn't check if the .wavs were there, but I just checked and they are there now.
I did notice that, during the update (1.22 to 1.23), it seemed to be deleting a lot of sound files; I assumed that was just part of the update.
There is also a slim possibility that I had one or two mods installed. I'm fairly sure I didn't, but it's possible. Either way, I think the only mod I've ever used is one of the speed mods, which I can't see affecting sound.

I just got the same error again, although this time the problem seems to be with different sound files. I will say that I am now running with aquelarrefox 's 7seas mod compilation, so that may be responsible. Also, I checked, and the sound file it's looking for is definitely where it should be. EDIT: Also, it's not a game-breaking bug. It just pops up the error message, which I can close, and then the game keeps working as normal (complete with sounds). It's just a bit annoying when the message pops up.

None of the beta team members have reproduced/noted this issue, so I think that likely it is something specific to your game setup/pc setup. We don't test/produce with any mods, so we cannot say for certain which mods could cause issues or not.
