Tashkent, Leningrad, Mogador, Fantasque Capitani Romani, Somers, Porter, etc All those ships who approach leader role from DD side I think it would be better just to put in a DDH or DDG class class that allows building larger ships without requiring them to have armor requirements. What would the difference be between an "orthodox" DD as opposed to your proposed DDG? SAM DDs are already present in-game, and most of the discussed DLs wouldn't fit there anyways. Meanwhile, if it's just creating a DL role, then how is that meaningfully distinct from just raising the existing destroyer displacement limit?

Meanwhile, if it's just creating a DL role, then how is that meaningfully distinct from just raising the existing destroyer displacement limit? A DDG is a guided missile destroyer, most easily identified by the VLS system built into their deck providing for greater versatility and a more destructive payload than a deck mounted launch system (such as is in the game now) at the cost of being pretty much impossible to reload out of dock, its why they have pretty much phased out DDG's with DML's. Quite frankly a DDG is a mobile missile platform with destroyer grade naval defenses. What I meant by my suggestion was a flag like Fast Battleships that triggers when mounting missiles of certain types on DD's to allow them to exceed the 2500 ton weight limit.
For FBB I wish they would actually appear as such because I hate them just showing BB or BC. I am sorry but my 90000 ton Kongo Class mounts 4 triple 16" guns and has 16" of belt armor and 7.5" of deck armor with 35 knots, and my Nagato class mounts 2 double and 2 triple 18" guns and has 17" of belt armor and 7.5" of deck armor with 32 knots. Neither of those should be BC, they are Super Battleship tonnage with as many guns as a small battlegroup (They mount the max of 44 secondary/tertiary and usually have missiles when I have them unlocked.)
On a side note has anyone else made a game illegal ship? I made a SBB that is totally Illegal in the game system but if you insert it into your save file then it works fine. Max armor on every spot, a full missile loadout, 48 secondary/tertiary, 35 knots, 4 triple 20" turrets

I concur. It is impossible to build large destroyers in their historical timeframe. Unless you make tiny CL's, which kind of just defeats the whole purpose.

Hi there gents. I haven't read any news on the expansion in a while; but am impatient to get my hands on it. Is there an ETA for release, or some way to participate in the beta?

I believe that the expansion is supposed to be released some time next year, hopefully the first half. I don't know of any way to participate in the beta at this time.

We do still intend to publish the RTW2 Expansion, but sadly with Chris Deans' passing things might be delayed a bit as we re-organize...but my intent, and Fredrik's (the developer of the RTW series) as well, is to get it published as soon as it is ready to go.
Thanks.

The news of Chris Deans' passing is very sad. Condolences to the whole NWS team and to his family. I assume I can tell: from all the followers of this forum.

In the lack of a condolences thread, I shall simply post me best towards his surviving family, and the rest of the RTW team here.
Considering the potentially terrifying number of hours I have dropped into this game, and as a fellow cat lover, than a donation to our furry friends in his name was no real hardship.

It would be awesome to have a feature where you can search for fleet battle opportunities and to request allied fleet support. I don't mean individual ships I mean if Germany is my ally and I have a fleet engagement in the Mediterranean against Italy request fleet support and they have the chance of actually deploy a large number of their ships in the region like your fleet when you have a fleet battle.

To you and Fredrik, best of luck! Looking forward to seeing your work continue.

If they have ships deployed in the region they usually show up, if they don't than they wont just teleport to you anyway. If you want to force a battle than force an invasion and enemy will have to fight or let the enemy invade you. Normal fleet battles happen fairly often anyway compared to reality. WW1 had 1 full fleet battle, Russo Japanese war had Tsushima and Yellow Sea was more of an invasion battle in RTW2 terms. WW2 had mainly carrier fleet battles.

Yes but your allies rarely supply more than 1 division for anything. Unlike say the battle of Normandy which saw an allied coalition from 8 navies with 92 combat vessels. If I as Japan am fighting Italy in the Med with Britain as an ally and I enter a fleet battle where we are throwing everything and the kitchen sink at each other than Britain shouldn't simply sit off to the side or provide 3 ships, their fleet should provide actual combat support. the same for an invasion battle.

I hope they add in the ability to go over 40 knots into the game that way we can get ships like the CVN's and some modern corvets that can exceed 50 knots

Frankly the speeds in the game are too low as it is, compared to historical vessels. While I understand its an engine limitation, I would love to see it reworked, to get faster destroyers and cruisers around WWII era and forward.
