Hello everyone! I've been lurking in the RTW2 forum for a while, playing the game on and off, never really getting anywhere because I have the atention span of a 5 year old and often abandon the games I start. I have now made an effort to really learn the game, and for the most part, it's going very well.
Now the varius tab I think is rather nice, choosing to use oxygen fueled torps or diving shells makes you think over the pros and cons, but there are two options there I don't really understand. Elite Pilot Training and Floatplane Search Priority. What do these do? Whats the pros and whats the cons? I've tried consulting the manual but I can't find them there. I hope you guys can give me a clearer picture cuase I'm a bit stuck.
Excuese me for any bad english or grammar, it's not my first language. Hope you guys have a wonderfull day!

Hi and welcome!
Floatplane Search Priority forces the game to conduct the automatic recon sweeps (the arcs that you can set up in turn zero) with floatplanes, when those are available. Otherwise the game will use a portion of your (first and foremost) torpedo bombers for this role. If you tend to design your ships (cruisers, battleships etc.) with floatplane facilities, this option will help the game with automatically utilizing them and in turn your carriers being able to retain more of their strike wings for the initial strike.
I am much less certain about what Elite Pilot Training does, but the rough idea is that you will get a higher base level of airmen quality, however in turn you will have more trouble with replacing the losses. Truth be told, I never really used it, because experience can be gained fairly quickly in live combat, and I find having reliable reserves to be more important. One thing the manual states is that "Carrier trained air units cannot number more than 120% of the air capacity of existing carriers in peacetime or 150% in wartime. This is reduced to 110% if using elite pilot training.", although this only really comes into play if you station carrier-capable units on land bases.
