OK, fair enough. But I don't find the answers in either. That's my problem. No doubt I am missing something. However, it is a fact that the screenshot above shows fields that just aren't there when I try to add or edit ships. That corner of the popup is simply blank.

Sorry, but with my PC I can't open your .odt screenshot. Try showing a .jpeg

It would appear that you are using the Scenario Editor, instead of the Campaign Editor.

No, it's the campaign editor. Of course, they both identify as the Scenario Editor. But this was definitely CampEditor.exe. Look at the path.
EDIT: I do have a few notions of what else to try, though any help would be useful. I think I can fix the date problem. I think I may not have used "Load Campaign". But I would like to return to an earlier statement of yours which I don't understand.
"I assume that you have already compiled the Order of Battle, if not you must do so, assigning your ships to a Rear Admiral and a Squadron commander.
Thereafter each ship will appear in the OOB under the flag of RA and/or of Squadron."
I do not understand either what "compile" or "assign" mean in that. I cannot find either term in either manual, nor did I see something that sounded like either. Same for the menus. So I am clueless about what to do there.

I don't know what to answer about the first question. Maybe NWS know something about it.
Regarding my statement I meant simply what you must create a force by selecting "Create force" from the Scenario (or Campaign) menu. The forces, their divisions and the ships that compose them constitute the Order of Battle (OOB). But from the screenshot you showed us it appears that you already have an OOB.

Sorry. Try this. The two fields just aren't there. In your screenshot you are indeed using the campaign editor, but have either used the "Load scenario" button or selected [File>Load scenario]. This means that the editor is treating the file as a scenario rather than as a campaign, which is why all the yellow campaign-related parameters are missing. Also note how the "Save scenario" button is not greyed out. To fix this, use [File>Load campaign] when loading up your campaign. When you have done this both scenario buttons in the top left become greyed out, so to save use [File>Save campaign].

Thanks, I did finally get that. And now it works, up to a point. I put another thread up for some more questions. E.g., can you fix ships' endurance within the editor, or only with a text editor in the .cam file?
