I've been working on a four part series of videos of some of the tactical options available while you fight your battles. I describe 40 ideas you can hold in mind when fighting a battle (i.e. I ought to remember and not just go chasing the enemy across the sea, shooting wildly at them). Some ideas are obvious, some hopefully less so. Thanks! Your videos for newbies actually helped me a lot to decipher the game and also finished to convince me to buy the game.

That's good to here. It's a great game. A lot is under the surface (not covered in the manual) - you can still enjoy it at that level, but I think it helps to make better decisions if you know what is going on, even if not perfectly.

RvT (Dickie) I just watched the first parts of your Germany series as well as the Tactical Studies and like to congratulate you on a job well done. Very informative and well presented! Especially in the Let's Play, you manage to lay out the situation in an interesting but concise way, highlighting the events but cutting on the tedious parts. Big thumbs up! I'd like to ask here, the 0.35x modifier to colonial service efficacy you had in the first/second part of the very small fleet size Germany game, is that really only because of the very small fleet size? I think your ships were short ranged and cramped, both coming with a 0.7x modifier to CS according to the manual, but even if that's cumulative it should only half your CS strength, not cut it to a third... so is the effect of very small FS then another ~0.7x?

You are absolutely right, faustzwei - I got myself confused (even though the correct mods from the manual are in my notes!). It is nothing to do with the fleet size and everything to do with the penalties for being short ranged and cramped accommodation. Good spot. I had to go back and get it clear in my mind - so I made a short video on how to do Foreign Stations properly! Guide to Foreign Stations youtu.be/XC-4fii9r_4Dickie
