A couple ideas that would make air group management easier:
1) Ability to select a sea zone and then get to all air groups in that zone.
2) Ability to sort Air Groups/Squadrons by sea zone
3) Ability to toggle on/off land-based and carrier-based groups
Right now my start of a war is a clickfest of finding the desired bases and filling out the units to full strength... I trim a/c quantities in between wars (on top of putting the units in Reserve) to save $$$. Bringing them back up at the start of hostilities is.... a bit time-consuming. If anyone has suggestions I'm open to it, but I figured I'd throw my thoughts here too.

Three more: 1) Also (and this may be a Windows thing) allow resizing of the Air Groups window so you can see more of your units 2) Allow filtering (MS Excel-style) of the units for particular bases 3) Not reset to the top of the window whenever a unit attribute is changed... find the squadron... change # of aircraft... "OK"... and scroll again to find the same base.
Edit:
Filter by role
Edit again:
Ability to copy Air Group structure (Types/Qty) from one Air Group to another, without wiping out Sqdn names, experience, or history, so long as the 'receiving' unit has the same number and type of squadrons. Reason: This would let me set all 7 of my 80-aircraft CVs to the exact same unit structure without having to do roughly 300 clicks.

As the option already exists for straight copy-paste of air groups I guess that you want copy-paste to be able to modify existing squadrons rather than replacing?

Standard airgroup is, say 30F, 20 DB, 30 TB. Between wars I dial them back to 20/16/20 for all ships (and then some go to "R" after that). I'd like to be able to make one of them 20/16/20, then copy that change to the other carriers without replacing.

What I really want to be able to do is highlight a bunch of airbases and paste the same group to all of them. Having to individually right-click paste 20 flying boats onto twenty or thirty airbases when I come up against an opponent with a lot of submarines, and then having to do it again to take the flying boats away at the end of the war, is awful.

Add a preference: play as a carrier air group/wing commander or as a carrier division admiral. In the second case, after having indicated the target of the required ("alpha" or minor) air strike, leave its management to the AI.
