In trying to think of ways of implementing the multi-day long range ability of airships an idea occurred.
Rather than having the slow airships start at the airbase and fly out then back we could simulate the long range by having them start far out and flying in.
If the battle starts with daylight hours the airships start at distance away from the base would be based on the shorter of either = some maximum (say 300 nm) = or the time needed for them to fly in to land at night.
If the battle starts at night time the airships start at their base (there is some question on this for true multi day simulation)
If day time starts then the airships launch from their sheds like normal.
The result of this would be that if the player invested in both airships and an airbase there could be coming in airships and going out airplanes on recon. This would give a much better benefit then both leaving from roughly the same point (bases are close together) but at different speeds.
A bomb capable airship could attack subs or make a lone high level bombing pass at a ship.
