You're right about that. I have downloaded and looked at it when it first came out. Hard to believe nothing at all has changed or been added since then, but anything's possible I guess. As you say, that was 6 months ago though.

As you say, that was 6 months ago though. Since that catalog has come out, the internal beta has gone from version 68 or so to 119. So a lot has changed, and they’ll show us by the end of the week.

Right. May 12, was when William Miller made the statement: "that within a few days (end of next week at the very latest) we will have major news/update about the game, even including a...wait for it...solid release window....shudder...".
Looks like there are going to be a lot of good things to read about and digest. (Version 68 to 119 would be 51 updates/changes/bug fixes, etc.)

Announcement will be out within a few hours actually. Now, that's cruel. I am still riding the east-to-west side of jetlag and am early up (and down) at the moment. This will likely make me stay up too long.

Greetings to my Fellow Naval Combat Aficionados,
Firstly - my apologies for the delay in this announcement; it has been a trying last few months for NWS since Christopher left us, but we have recovered and have been moving forward in good order. With that out of the way, let us get down to what you have been waiting for - news and/or updates! 1. After *lots* of discussion between Fredrik and myself, and including feedback from our wonderful NWS Beta Team members, we have decided that the upcoming release should be a standalone game, namely "Rule the Waves 3: Ironclads to Missile Cruisers". We have worked on this project for ~ 2.5 years now; with the amount of changes and additions, not to mention improvements in many many areas, we realized a short while back that the work has gone well beyond a simple expansion/dlc...we somehow passed 'feature creep' and entered the realm of what I like to call 'feature bloat' at some point in the past it would appear :-) The previously released 'Expansion Catalog', while it showed much of what was included at its release, will likely become somewhat outdated as additional work is done for the final game release - more details of this will be coming out in our marketing campaign later on. The exact price point for the RTW3 game has not yet been decided, but it will fall close to our (NWS) typical price range for our new games, somewhere in the 35-45 range is my best guess right now - the exact price will be set/announced later on. We do plan to put the game on sale at a *reduced price* for the first week or so of the release, which will effectively give anyone who wishes to take advantage of it a good price break. 2. Release date: The game will be released in OCTOBER of this (2022) year. THIS IS A SOLID RELEASE WINDOW. This release window gives us some additional time to 'finetune' the game, and a chance to add even more new features and useful changes as well in the meantime! 3. STEAM: Yes, we plan on a Steam release at the same time as the game is released to the store!!! The initial sale price (that I mentioned above) should also apply on Steam as well as on the store. Below is a sample of the updated ship graphics that our Beta Team member John Smith ( jwsmith26) has created for RTW3:

Ok that all sounds fine... but I think what we were all looking for was the content RTW3 was going to have. Like, what kind of torpedoes or missiles can I stick on my twin engines submarine hunter plane I want to use in a dual role to also attack an airbase? What kind of submarine power plant can I add to make it a true submarine that doesn’t have to surface like a whale all the time? What kind of fire control radars are there to be able to track and defeat multiple incoming missiles? How does the AI vs AI system work? Hat sorta thing.

I agree with the above. I'd like to see a feature description styled like the original RTW2 manual. But also...these ships look gorgeous!

Yes, even I will admit that the ships are rather "wizard" (thanks for that one nameless Anakin childhood associate) and I look forward to what I can show in my AAR.
As for features, some of them will become apparent as I play through my AAR, but other details need to wait for our marketing campaign- we've been at this a long time and want to do it right. I think my message would be "Hey, its definitely happening!"

Not exactly what I was expecting either but I guess looking at the ship graphics (they are really good BTW) is better than nothing. More feature information and general game commentary would have been really appreciated, but it is what it is.
In another thread someone cautioned about getting too involved with Steam (referring to the forums there). I'll second that. They can get pretty abusive and toxic, but this type simulation usually attracts a more mature and knowledgeable audience, so it might not be too bad. I hope so.
If what we've just been shown is all that can be put out for now, it's going to be a long hard wait until October. Hopefully we can get more regular updates and information along the way. Just don't leave us hanging again, please.

I agree with the above. I'd like to see a feature description styled like the original RTW2 manual. But also...these ships look gorgeous! The RTW3 manual is a "still in work" document, and won't really be complete until after any after all potentially new features are added/tested/finalized. When that happens more details...will...flow... (sorry, watched the new Dune move again recently...lol)

Great to hear that you have pinned a release date -- er, month. I am looking forward to it and hearing what else has been thrown into the mix.

Awaiting the release with (an unhealthy amount of) anticipation. William - I'd like to specifically thank you for going ahead with a Steam release. I'm confident that such a major step up in accessibility will shift the sales of RTW into a whole new gear.
