Since the game is going to be on steam, will it includes workshop support to simplify mod installation?

Since the game is going to be on steam, will it includes workshop support to simplify mod installation? William's already answered: "While Workshop would be something we really would like to have, but cannot promise...this will be our first Steam release...baby steps and all"

Very excited. Will buy it on day one. Looking forward to better AI and ship officer and ship histories. It would be very cool to play as a poor nation and use a ship all the way from 1890 to 1950s. Just imagine the stories the ship has to tell. It would be the spirit of the nation! You mean the HrMs De Zeven Provincien?

As a note, it is our intention to have the game at a discounted price for the first week or so of the release...this gives everyone the chance to pick it up at a reduced price. Alright, I see. It will be a wait and see for me
Thanks a lot for your answer !

I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to move this entire thread to a brand new forum section dedicated to RTW III? That way it would be easier to everyone to read or post about RTW2 and RTW III since both games would have their own separate areas. Something like what we have right now between the original RTW and RTW2. Just an idea.

I remember a dinner with MGP officers, all of which sailed on her or her sister in an earlier time when they actually still fired their guns. While the guns and their ammo were initially a de facto global standard in the end they were orphans, with massive cost for the ammo. The joke was "another Volkswagen" whenever they fired a salvo. And that was in the 80/90's, when few Peruvians could afford said "Volkswagen"....

The original RTW forum dried up (understandably) when the RTW2 forum was opened, and there's still interesting/important discussions going on here.

I will be creating a new RTW3 forum section sometime in the next ~ 2 weeks or so.

Will buy it day1 either way. But I do hope with it being a new game, there will be more UI/QoL updates and feature additions in a few free updates, to make it an amazing sequel to the great series. I fully support putting the game on steam, it will bring more attention to this great game in its own niche market, and hopefully bring more sales and money for the dev team to continue working on and improving it. It will be best if we can buy directly from the dev and get a key to activate on steam to directly dupport the dev and avoid the cut by steam

As the release date has now been pushed back till the end of this year and it's going to be a new game not just an upgrade to RTW2 I suppose developers are still open to suggestions?
Is it possible to have the option of having calibre and armour measured in mm? Also please all weights and speed of aircraft in the IMS (ie km/h and kg). These is the standard convention in most countries in the world. Maybe this is something we could choose at the beginning of the game?

I am very disappointed that: features that where promised on rtw2 release aren't in the game (angled deck anyone?) ....
... and that RTW3 doesn't come with an actual submarine designer and proper operative use. We had ironclads in 1, carriers in 2, ofc subs need to come in the third

It is now, but within the period (including RTW3) the "imperial" measures were the standard for gun calibres and weights. Speed of combat aircraft is still measured in kn and weights in pounds, at least by the dominant naval aircraft user/producer today (i.e. the US).

The "imperial" measures were the standard way to refer to gun calibres? Don’t say that to a Frenchman or a German or Italian or Russian or Spaniard, or even a Japanese for that matter. All those countries used the metric system to designate the calibre of their guns (and everybody else’s). Yamato’s guns for example were originally disguised as 40 cm/45 calibre Type 94. (That’s 15.748 inches calibre) and even today, in those countries Iowa I’m afraid has 9 x 406mm guns. The use of kN for aircraft speed distorts the way airspeed was understood at least during the 20s, 30s and 40s, including in the “dominant naval aircraft user/producer today”: the F4F Wildcat for example was intended to cover a USN request for a 300mph fighter (not 260kN). But I understand the developers may want to have a single way of measuring airspeed for the whole timeframe of the game. If so I agree kN would be a good way to cover the period from early biplanes to the jets. Ships’ displacement doesn’t need to change (metric ton, short ton, long ton aren’t so different). Also speed and range can remain unchanged: everybody has always used knots and NM at sea. But I still think it would be much more user friendly for a worldwide market to be able to use the metric system for guns’ calibre, armour protection and aircraft/bombs weight. It is up to the developers to decide if this is something feasible/desirable.

Moving to Steam potentially brings the game to a much larger audience and to the greatest extent possible you don't want to shut out the large share of it that thinks first in metric dimensions.
