I don't know if the developers are still open to suggestions... We are. I can of course make no promises that any specific suggestion/idea might make it into the initial game release, but we do read all of these suggestions. Great, that also answers one of my two earlier questions. The other one was 2. Would it be worth it to update the -by now wrongly named- RTW2 expansion catalog? Have any changes/new features been made since last year? Thanks (again)

I don't know if the developers are still open to suggestions, but I think that this could be an interesting addition, so I'll put it out here. What do you guys think about fleshing out the infrastructure system more, ie. adding private shipbuilding companies, and maybe other stuff I haven't thought about yet. Private shipyards could provide dockyard space without you having to pay for it. There could be several tendering offers for every ship, allowing you to save a bit of money on construction. Successful companies that win lots of orders would expand, giving you more capacity. Unsuccessful companies may require monetary support to stay afloat, if they don't get this they will fold, reducing capacity. If you go through a phase with little new construction or expensive refits, corporations may need your financial help or you risk losing a great deal of capacity. I really think that this would add some more realism to the game. If anyone has any ideas on improving this proposal, I would be glad to hear them! This is a superb idea. I don't know the details of how this kind of thing played out in different countries, but I imagine it was different and there would make playing various countries feel more immersive.

not sure if this was talked about in the past, but in view of a steam-release I want to point at the MAP:
please chance the map to somehing even remotly accurate (or at least without state-borders at all) instead of the 199x map in a 1900 game...
knowing steam, there will be 75% negative reviews because of the "fantasy map" (a Map with 199x european borders = 1900 fantasy map) alone.
I know that it will not be possible to add a dynamic map but at least delete the "state borders" so that only the coastlines are there (and if possible exclude the map from the exe-file to make it mod-able)
the RTW 1/2 map will only get you a review-bombing at steam I am afraid,

I got the idea when reading "The Battleship Builders" by Ian Johnston. I have really enjoyed the book, and can highly recommend it. Since it's focused on the RN, I'm not sure how other nations would work. Even if total shipyard capacity is the only thing that gets added to RTW 3, it will still be a major improvement on RTW 2. I'm wondering if repairing ships will eat into your dockyard capacity?

Total shipyard capacity is in the game from what I have heard in the forums and seen in the Italy AAR.

Anyway, that's not what zederfflinger was suggesting. His idea was more complicated and historically grounded.

I'm really pleased that it will be added to the new game, I just thought that it could be expanded upon.

I also look forward to the RTW3, but I also agree that in such case the RTW2 deserves to be finished - that means proper implementation of: angled deck, side deck lifts, deck parking, early SSM, and other stuff that is mentioned in the game (and that I cannot remember at this point), was advertised as a part of the game, but still isnt implemented. Due to that, leaving the game as is can be considered quite dishonest IMHO. When I create anything, I first fulfill my earlier promisses, THEN I move on to another stuff. How can we trust you that the stuff you advertised for RTW3 will actually be there? You see, keeping your word wasnt just considered to be a sign of good manners, but also a good business strategy. Please dont end up like some other game devs that already drowned their fanbase in broken promisses. PS: having useless checkboxes is one of the most irritating things I have ever seen in a strategy game, it sends strong HoI 4 vibes (you know, options that sound useful, look useful, but lack any function whatsoever). Normally I would agree, but we're talking about a small-scale developer with very finite resources. Any time spent polishing the frankly already decently complete RTW2 would directly and measurably take away from RTW3 in terms of either scope or time of delivery. One might prefer not to sacrifice either of those things when we both know most everyone here is going to buy RTW3 anyway. Well then I hate to be the one to say it, But people who bought RTW 2 on the advertised features that were abandoned should be entitled to a refund. What exactly has happened here is illegal in certain countries and makes the customer entitled to a refund.

Based on what has been said about the price that should bring it down to about what a dlc as extensive as would have been necessary would have cost anyway. Tldr: We'll have a chance at a whole new game with everything we want for no more than the dlc would have cost.

But I think the “new” game is not going to have anything substantially different from the novelties already announced in last year's RTW2 extension catalogue. Still that's fine with me. It may well be that their business model was not the best and they think they deserve a bigger return from their hard work, so they decided to brand it a new game. Well, they are probably right. And I'm sure RTW3 will be outstanding, even without the metric system and still untranslated One thing worries me though. Thinking of the Steam release (apart from the very annoying land borders already mentioned. Why are they there in the first place anyway?): RTW2 seems to still have bugs now. I'm not sure how it will be felt by the Steam community to get error messages and the like months after purchasing the game.

Providing they aren't massive or game breaking, most players wouldn't notice. Bethesda are notorious for releasing heavily bugged games - to the point there are memes about it. You'll probably find - with a few exceptions - people will be more accepting of bugs in games from small indie developers because they know it's harder to track them down and squash them.

...Thinking of the Steam release (apart from the very annoying land borders already mentioned. Why are they there in the first place anyway?)... i believe the map is a 3rd party release and the developer built RtW over it - i assume it's un-modifiable, it is what it is, but does the job perfectly fine

I think your missing the point of my message, But let me word it out that most person can understand easily. Ok think of RTW 2 as a new model car. The manufacturer work on the car and then market and list the features of the car, people get excited for said new car. The car is then released it to the market, People buy it but notice that the said car doesn't include all the features that were listed in the Marketing/Brochure... But the Car manufacturer states that the car will be finished in the future with you being provided the rest of the car for free in the near future. The Car manufacturer provides some of the features for free like they stated over a period of time, but these features are not fully complete and are at most half-baked, the car manufacturer then announces that the rest of the "Free" features and uncomplete features are now going to cost you money to get said "Free" features. Time goes by and then... It is then announced by the car manufacturer that instead of having to pay for the incomplete and missing features that you payed for in the initial product, you now have to buy the Next model of car that now has those Features built in. Now if that sounds wrong and illegal.... Then Yes it is Highly Illegal in almost every country.
