Does anybody know if there's going to be any change in the way seaplanes are being handled in AVs? I wish we could operate them as we do in CVs. If Fredrik thinks it's better to keep seaplanes operating from capital ships and cruisers as now (i.e. mostly automatic recon missions only) that's fine. But I wish we could still have a separate set of fighters and torpedo bombers seaplanes operating from the AVs. A bit like the 1930 French AV comandant teste. They would be slower and less agile than contemporary wheeled aircraft but still a force to reckon with. I think that would make our use of AVs more fun until we go full CV later in the 1930s. Mind you, maybe an idea for RTW4

The idea of having them follow the fleet was tried early on ("Jutland Rutland") but not terribly successfully tbh...

I just want my AVs to actually be usable in the mid-late game. Right now there's an abrupt cutoff (1930? 1940?) beyond which AVs will never appear in battles under any circumstances.

It would be nice if AV's had more of a strategic for the late game. Same for CVLs. Both kind of stop showing up in the late game battles.
For AV's, they can start more taking on the stationary local seaplane basing role that increases your pre battle enemy strength assessment in the sea zone they're stationed in - something the Effective sigint technology does too.

... Plus torpedo raids on enemy anchorages perhaps?

AVs (in the broadest sense of the term) were used to launch interceptors in both WWI and WWII.
They were also used by merchant raiders (often the aircraft could intimidate a ship into surrendering - as well as improving spotting). Land based floatplanes were also used to board and inspect ships in WWI (with a second sometimes providing cover for the boarding crew). Plus there is obvious potential for boosting the performance in the anti-submarine role (e.g. Loire 130). The French even had a 1933 requirement for catapult launched fighters.
Lots of potential uses if a war had happened in the 20s or 30s (rather than the 10s and 40s)

Might be interesting if you could rebuild them to be more of a floating helicopter base. Not sure if there's any significant precedent to this type of design philosophy, but i'd certainly like to see that idea. Perhaps they could be useful for convoy escorts if equipped with ASW helicopters.
