Some KE is generated to simulate other small vessels as coastal patrols. If these vessels are sunk, there have no impact on your fleet. Yes, I am aware, but the post-battle stats did not show a patrol boat sunk. They showed a very specific type of KE that I produced myself. When a patrol boat is sunk, it lists that properly at the end of the battle. This was not that.

williammiller this just happened again. I engaged a large KE which supposedly had 5" guns in a "destroyer raid" which really had CLs with it. The ship was listed as sunk in the after action report. However when I go to the lost ships screen for France, there is no large KE listed as sunk, except one from back in the early 1890s.
Where did this guy go? He wasn't some small auto-generated patrol boat. This thing was big. Interesting to note - this was in the same area as my original problem, off the French Mediterranean Coast. Could this bug be tied to specific geography/mission types?

Thanks for the save, will push this to internal testing. Hi william , I noticed retroactively it occurred again, once more with KEs. I think this bug is primarily tied to ship-type, as this occurred in the Adriatic and not off of the Riviera. I sunk three Austro-Hungarian corvettes of a large size in November 1919 in my AAR. None are listed in their battle losses at all over their entire history, save for one that was torpedoed and one that blew up due to sabotage. Please see the attached pic.
As this happened many, many turns ago, I am not sure a save at this point would be directly helpful. But this issue still clearly exists and happens for more than single-ship losses, which is what I suspected previously. Given that 5/6 of the suspect vessels missed are KEs, I think efforts should be focused there first.
The question is, are these vessels getting recorded as sunk in battle, but not in the campaign losses in the almanac, or are they perhaps only recorded in the "summary of ships lost" in the the history?
EDIT: I am CORRECT! A cursory overview of the summary of KE losses in my game reveals a dual discrepancy. Firstly, Austrian and French numbers are higher here, accurate, and not at all reflected in their almanac values. Japan is also much higher in the history.
Interestingly, mine as Italy is LOWER in the history than my main "Ships sunk or scrapped tab," where I have 6, but only 4 are listed in the historical tally. There are clearly discrepancies on multiple levels with KE losses being incorrectly tallied and displayed in different parts of the UI. Pic won't attach and I will post separately.

Historical KE losses discrepancy:
BTW this is all for 1.00.25, no upgrade to .26 or .27 yet.

I believe there are still issues with the game tallying sunk vessels correctly. This is 1.00.52, two French subs should be listed as lost instead of one. Attachments:
