This happened to me twice in my current campaign so far: I autodesign a ship to get a rough outline and then customize it. In this case I was trying to remove 2 light AA (because I added some heavy aa and had no deckspace) from a light cruiser. The game then added 1400 inches (maybe an overflow number idk) to my light cruiser that has no flight deck. It was a solid 260000 tons overweight. Manually removing the deck armor is almost impossible as it's not possible to directly enter a value into the field so I have to redesign my CL. I have no idea what exactly causes it but I had it in 2 campaigns so far, sometimes multiple times per campaign as mentioned. It wasn't always when removing light AA as well (just recently researched it) and it does not happen every time I do it. Screenshot of the bug: Archive of the savegame (had to go external since >1mb even on highest compression): drive.google.com/file/d/1-cOCeAqCk4EKBIvEVk_pAmIdDtU_WZn6/view?usp=sharing

1400 inches armor - sounds appropriate for Yamato V.

It happened again with the same autodesign as a basis. This time I reduced "Belt extended" from 1 to 0. May be an issue with some specific designs (?). This one got an even bigger armor upgrade it seems. Flight deck armor was visually still 0 but the weight was shown. Wen I clicked reduce, it showed the actual value. So yeah, seems to be some weird overflow thing...

This is really odd, cannot replicate this. What OS and language are you using? Are you using any windows emulation?

If it happens again, could you post what exactly you change last and what exactly was the design (screenshots of all tabs). If you can repeat it, we can tract it.

I've had a similar issue when trying to graphically place secondary guns on a carrier. Was messing around with both the main gun and secondary gun placements. It was the first carrier so I was dealing with the required 6 inch guns. I had swapped the casements for turrets (exact same mounting positions as the template) and had been moving them around too. I had removed and added the number of secondary guns (single mount 4" DP guns) several times and also used the auto place button a couple. Basically there was a lot of reworking and moving of turrets involved. At some point I had manually positioned both main and secondary guns. I then went and checked the asymmetric secondary mounts box. I then attempt to move one of the port secondary guns, I don't remember which but it might have been the 2nd mount from the front. Instead of moving the mount, left click started to spawn additional secondary guns. I clicked a few times out of confusion. I had to remove all secondary guns to clear the graphic. It was then that I noticed the ship had gained roughly 200,000 tons. I checked all the tabs and every spot that listed weights but I could not find any thing that was contributing the 200,000 tons except for the Total and Weight Remaining boxes. I had to scrap the design because nothing I changed got rid of the excess weight. The secondary guns did continue to list correct weights when I added them back though. I did not think of capturing the save because I didn't save the design and also forgot to take a screenshot.
Forgot to mention I was playing on Germany - 1935 start, large fleet, and the template was the same as this one (my current designed one) - though I don't remember what tonnage the broken one was.

The only weird thing about my OS is my System Locale which is Japanese (and is occasionally causing naming issues with German ships but hasn't made any other apparent problems yet [also didn't in earlier RTW titles]).

Forgot to mention I was playing on Germany - 1935 start, large fleet, and the template was the same as this one (my current designed one) - though I don't remember what tonnage the broken one was. I got something similar, also playing Germany and around 1937ish, though I started in 1890. I was positioning secondaries (5" DP twins) on a BB. I don't remember which mount it was exactly, but I think it was one of the secondary-only mounts (lowercase letters like g, i). Whenever I moved it, the turret I was actually positioning went to the correct spot, and was mirrored, but the old mirrored graphic remained. When saving and reloading the ship with enough of these ghost turrets around, the game seems to have summoned 3000" of flight deck armor (on a BB!). If there were only a couple, all I got was the secondary graphic mismatch warning. I was able to fix it (when I had only a couple ghosts) by saving and reloading the ship, deleting "invalid mounts" under the secondary graphic list, and moving the original position's mirror to the correct spot with asymmetric checked, but if I tried to move the port turret without asymmetric checked I started getting ghosts again.
If I had to take a wild, barely-educated guess, I think there's some sort of overflow or similar caused by an excessive number of secondary graphics which can be interpreted by the designer as being actual elements of the design. If I recall correctly, it also warned me about some other issue that should not have existed, hence my suspicion.
