First RTW3 is a great addition to the series, it has been a blast to play this, and the additions of Spain and China are really cool. Haven't quite gotten to the missile era yet but looking forward to that as well! The devs have done some great work on an already really fun game system. Some thoughts (rambling) on tweaks and such that I have are...
1. Guns - when adding guns to ships have them default the highest quality available. I have had several times the game tells me the guns weren't of the highest quality. Not a huge thing but it would be nice.
2. Officers - Really good add, but I echo all who have asked for more sorting options, histories and the like. The idea for some staff slots (although I love the solution for staff slots at the CL level that cwemyss came up with) is also a good idea. It would also be nice to have a way for some additional information on start about a few on them and have a few admirals already set as the game starts. Also, would love down the road to have a way to combine divisions into Task Forces as well!
3. Nations - China and Spain are great adds the Netherlands and Sweden would also be cool. Maybe a South American navy as well, especially in the 1900 starts as there was a quite a naval race down there. Mod folks will handle some of this, but if you're looking for new nations for that big patch later on...these would be fun.
4. The Gangut conspiracy - I may be wrong but I seem to remember in RTW2 there was a fix or tweak to reduce the number of "Gangut" layout style BB's the AI generated in the 1920 start. Seems I get them for every nation when only the Russians really should have that layout. Sometimes they are created to exclusion of almost everything else. Again, something we all can live with but...as long as your taking suggestions!
5. The dreaded "S" - also on the 1920 and 35 starts I see a LOT of "S" (short range) BB/BC's, more then I expect. I get that we are inheriting someone's mess in our role, but they do seem to make a lot of them. Maybe just the ability to refit them into medium range would be a way to solve the issue simply (he says having no idea of how to write code...)
6. Guns Pt2 - The AI seems to give some nations like Italy and France a lot of main guns they haven't developed yet. Not a huge issue unless the AI gives them ones with -2 quality...which it seems are unable to be upgraded, which is a pain.
7. Prestige at Start - on this may be controversial but...what about starting Prestige at 25 especially now the officer events can affect prestige? Especially when playing as the Germans in 1920 or having to move some well-connected captains or admirals around you can go from 20 to 16 or so in a flash and then it is really hard to comeback. Maybe 23, I don't know just a thought. I can fiddle with this in the RTW.bsc file but might be something to think about.
Again, love the game and all the thought and work the devs and the community have put into this. I am not sure if any of the ideas above are any good or doable but wanted to get my 2 cents in on this (that may double what this post is worth as well!)
May flash fires only happen to your enemies and may your budgets always be high...
