Throughout the game, we get events where our top spy has gotten a hold of the blueprints of XX's ship ZZ, currently under construction. However, once you click off of the popup showing you the ship, that information is lost. It would be nice to be able to pull these stolen datasheets back up and be able to filter on combination of country, class, tonnage range, speed, main gun size. That way when designing a new ship, you can see what your opponents are building.
A suggestion would to be able to open the design files in the ship designer.

Absolutely, I suggested this back for RTW2: nws-online.proboards.com/thread/6644/intelligence-improvements-noting-ship-schematics

Are you sure the blueprints are lost?
In the Almanach there is a list of enemy ships. Ships under construction have no specs but displacement by default, but you can see additional data if your spies have discovered them. AFAIK this coincides with discovered ship plans from spies.

Only when building. After that the info is limited and incomplete, even though you just saw the full plan

You can see the general info from all/almost all ships that the other nations have, like guns/speed/armour. What extra info does the full plan give?

You can see the general info from all/almost all ships that the other nations have, like guns/speed/armour. What extra info does the full plan give? What you see on your own ship cards - the deck, turret, secondary, and conning tower armor, as well as rangefinder type. The general info in the almanac is incomplete and often erroneous, even within the graphical presentation of a single ship.
You can often see a listed speed on the almanac that is different than what is displayed when a ship is selected and the card viewed.

The last sentence should refer to a bug that has been fixed after I have reported it. Please make a bug report if this continues for you. Ship card info should match info in the listing of a nation's ships.

Every ship has a speed and EnemySpeed Attribute and they aren't necessarily the same.

So then what's the purpose of these spy events if everyone can see everyone else's stuff? To me if your spies steals the blueprints it should give you something more than what anyone else has.
