Oh by the way, AMC has been running war movies all day, many of them anniversaries (this year is the 40th anniversary of the movie "Midway" which I just watched with my wife. We all appreciate the nice comments. I've missed our discussions, it would be nice to have you back, but I understand. BTW, I have just finished a book on the Normans and am now reading an excellent book on the Crusades. Right up your alley. Your Friend Always, Dennis

Hi Dennis:
Good to hear from you and I am glad to see you are reading about the Middle Ages. What books might I ask? I retired in January to deal with health issues and my aging parents, so I have a good deal of reading time on my hands. I have been dividing it between history, sci-fi and best sellers. I have practically wiped out my local library's collection of John Grisham, Frederick Forsyth and Mario Puzo LOL! I will post on occasion depending on the topic. Stay well sir!
Your friend, Ed Rotondaro

Your friend, Ed Rotondaro Hi Ed: Congratulations on retirement, but sorry about health issues and aging parents. Both of our parents are now gone, so life is easier except for babysitting granddaughter, which is a joy for us. I just finished "The Norman's: From Raiders to Kings by Lars Brownworth." I am currently reading "The Crusades: The Authoritative History of the War for the Holy Land" by Thomas Ashbridge. I am going to move Into "1491" by Charles Mann and "1493" by the same author when I am finished. I need to get back to reading my Jared Diamond. I am also branching out into the financial crises of 2007-2009. Its a little complex but interesting. I am not well versed on financial analysis, and economics, so I struggle. This study of the Normans and the Crusades has my interest. I will focus some more on that historical era. My grandmother on my mom's side, was born in Bari, Italy so I have some roots there and the story of the Norman's frequently mentioned Bari as the last outpost for the Byzantine Empire in Italy; couple that with my grandfather coming from Sicily and its interesting. Keep in touch, Dennis
