This concept, tried on the Pensacola class cruisers and originally intended for the Lexingtons (before it was decided to arm them with 16-inch guns) would put triple turrets superfiring over double turrets to create finer lines for a given length. However, it wound up making the ships more top-heavy and less stable.
I've tested the concept in the ship editor in RTW before and I've noticed that the weight actually increases when you go for this layout vs having the triple turrets on the deck of the ship and the doubles superfiring. Is there a reason this isn't modelled in game? Is it modelled ingame and I'm just doing something wrong? Or is it modelled in game because the extra weight is needed to counteract the top-heavyness of a ship with said layout?

Set the B and X (or V) turret to triple and the A and Y turret to double, then compared it to the A and Y turret being triple and the B and X turret being double on the same hull.

oh, sorry I misunderstood "triple superfiring turrets" as 3 turrets on top of each other (a la Atlanta)
In the game, B and Y turrets have additional weight as they are considered using addition superstructure to get that height While aft centerline superfiring uses the superstructure that is already there, having no additional weight

oh, sorry I misunderstood "triple superfiring turrets" as 3 turrets on top of each other (a la Atlanta) In the game, B and Y turrets have additional weight as they are considered using addition superstructure to get that height While aft centerline superfiring uses the superstructure that is already there, having no additional weight Except that in real life if you have the forward and aft lower turrets (A and Y) doubles it should subtract some weight from the hull and powerplant, so I'm kind of unhappy that the game doesn't properly model this.
