My only complaint about the automatic naming system is the way it gives the lead ship in a class the name of the class (or is it the other way around?) Anyway Tribal class destroyers have a lead ship called "Tribal", Town class cruisers, County class cruisers etc etc. Capital ship classes are named after the lead ship, but smaller ship classes shouldn't be. That really depends on the Navy in question. I.E. there wasn't a 'Tribal', but there was a 'Clemson'. True enough i suppose, but i don't think it is unreasonable to use the time periods biggest and most prestigious navy as a bench mark for naming conventions.

Well, naming the class, then building X number of them and finally renaming the lead ship when it feels necessary isn't too much of a hassle, so personally I don't see it as too much of an issue. On a bit of a tangent here - do excuse me if I am touching a subject already well discussed, but what about night fighting? If I recall correctly, in RtW it is esentially a training option and that's it, no? I read that in RtW2 radar-aided blindfiring is a possibility, but what about other means like searchlights, star shells, illumination by aircraft, location of light sources relative to the ships and all that lovely and fairly important stuff? I really don't want to sound like having unreasonable ideas, but will this be implemented at least in a way of tech branch giving some percentage bonuses, if nothing else?

That discussion was started elsewhere, though I can't immediately discover it. Since there is no time, I will sum-up; virtually everything has been discussed, and at this precise moment we aren't sure how detailed we're going to get. Cloning Fredrik would be an excellent first step. Or someone come up with Elon Musk money so he can quit his day-job.

Without tongue-in-cheek, I suspect William and Fredrik are quite content with the positive status-quo; I should not imply they are not.

Actually, if you spell it correctly (*bonks self*), the thread is Easy to find.
There's also a Radar thread I started further back, but not much beyond a basic statement was accomplished due to my limited knowledge of the extent of our plans and the technology detail in general.

While this is a very minor point, one I don't think many people here will care much about, will the purchasing process for RtW2 differ from RtW1? I have to admit, the process of sending money for the promise of getting an email at some point in the future gave me a bit of pause.

Ah, thank you! If it's any help, I have zero ethical problem with the cloning-plan. I still feel like stressing that I was expressing a wish rather than any sort of demand. Interesting night battles are of my two Big Daydreams regarding RtW's future.

What is the other?

I get the feeling that between training, radar, better doctrine, and maybe better optics night battles are going to be interesting. Just the fact we could see them evolve from the chaotic free for all’s of the first two decades to something a little more organized but still chaotic until the end of the 40s will be fascinating to me.

The whole storefront is weirdly web 1.0

Yeah, same here - if I hadn't been watching plenty of the game's content on youtube before deciding to buy it I would have thought it was a poorly thought out scam for sure. In a different world you might defend it on the grounds that it's too dumb a scam to possibly be tried in the first place; alas, we do in fact live in a world so over-populated by Nigerian princes that their excessive food consumption must be going a long way to explaining Africa's problem with famines.
Is Steam an option?

Yeah, Steam Early access might be a good choice if you want to bring the game to a larger audience without any pressure of producing a flawless first release version, and if the devs are committed to keep patching and improving the game for the near future.

IIRC the dev team sticks to their personal online store, which I admire, given the niche market.

Is Steam an option? I have to say this site is so impossibly difficult to stumble upon without you intending to come here I had 0 suspicion of it being a scam back then lol(I have no idea how I found this game even). I think for something that's this niche the current platform works fine, though it doesn't hurt to be more accessible.
