I for one will be disgusted if the game does not include a fully researched technology tree for marching and drills - I want to have the option to be able to have my 1950s Navy performing 116 steps a minute quicktime marches with full options for half time and funeral paces.

BELIEVE IT or NOT. ...I have actually suggested this thread, and the advance of the parade band march. Throw in your favorite period march! www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2LnRvpVR_EBy John Philip Sousa, The Liberty Bell March! Now where have I heard that before...

Once upon a time, the story went something like this: After the attack on Pearl Harbor, the US Army, Navy, Air Corps and Marine Corps opened their doors to females. And of course, nothing in that day was official unless it had its own March (see 'Chicago Tribune', 'The Klaxon' dedicated, I kid you not, to the Automobile Horn Manufacturers Association, and etc). A ceremony was planned to serve as the 'launch' of the new branch of the Marine Corps. The day before, the base commander casually asked the sergeant in charge of the post band to have a new march written to commemorate the occasion - because that is the sort of thing that officers do. And so, he composed, wrote out and rehearsed the new march in ONE EVENING - because that is what sergeants do. (If you want to know why military units win or lose, look to the NCOs). So here is one of my absolute personal favorites, composed on the spur of the moment and yet absolutely right in every way: The March of the Women Marines by Louis Saverino, performed by The President's Own: www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4i3b8SSgd4Lyrics to the trio: Marines! We are the women members of our fighting Corps. Marines! Our name is known from burning sands to ice bound shores. Marines! We serve so man may fight in air, on land and sea. Marines! The eagle, globe and anchor carry on to make men free. If that break strain doesn't make you get up and move, check your pulse - you're dead. Listed in loving tribute to my mother, Lt Col Mildred Ellis, US Army, a member of the first class of women ever admitted to Command and General Staff School. Yes Mom, it says Marines - but I know you'd understand.

For what it's worth, I for one was quite tickled by your jibe!

I see no reason why each playable nation now cannot have its own background marching music....

Here's one that should terrify any wind player: Rolling Thunder - www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIgjAY55k1gThe trombone parts alone have been known to cause panic, exhaustion and emergency room visits for sprained wrists and tongues. Composed by Henry Fillmore in 1916, it is a type known as a 'screamer' or circus march. Strap yourself in! This is a great version -
