## hits and Research Rate Question

The Manual says that setting the Research Rate for a game less than 100 will slow down research. But it doesnt say if it's player or AI specific. Is it a global setting that applies to all nations equally? RTW2 would be nice to be able to set Research modifiers for each nation!

Also, checking the damage log I noticed ## hits. What are these? My quick search-fu failed.

As far as I know, your research rate (edited for clarity: I mean the 0 - 10 research budget setting, apologies) has nothing to do with the AI nations; the research modifier that you can set at the start of the game (so the research rate, yes), that does apply to every nation globally.
## hits are registered on already sinking/lost vessels. The reason for that is that the enemy does not know for sure if the ship is already beyond saving, so it still puts rounds into her. You can think of these as some sort of "overkill-hits" that your ship still gets, but don't matter anymore. Again: if I recall correctly.
